Boulder Blitz
Boulder Blitz runs your climbing board sessions for you: it keeps the clock, tells you which climb to try, and keeps score — round after round — so you can focus on the sends.
No clock, no timeout — work one climb as long as you like. Bump the grade up or down between attempts, shuffle to a new climb or search for one by name, and take an optional timed rest if you want one.
A structured interval timer for training alone — climb time and rest time on repeat.
A head-to-head game where two climbers alternate attempts on the same randomly-picked problem.
Every climb comes with a live preview, and every hold in it is traced to its own outline — not buried under a circle you have to squint past. You see the hold's real shape, so there's never a question about which one you're meant to be on. Tap any climb in search to size it up before you commit; holds are colour-coded by type, so start, hand, foot and finish read at a glance.
Challenge a friend as well as the clock. In Duel Mode you climb back-to-back on randomly picked problems, alternating attempts round after round while Boulder Blitz keeps a live score. Climbing at different grades? Flip on Handicap Mode and each player sets their own target grade — scores are normalized to a common scale, so a 5C climber and a 6B climber can still have a fair head-to-head.
Every session is saved automatically. The History tab keeps a full log of every round and score, and the Stats tab charts your score trend and grade progression over time — split by week, month, or all-time, and by game mode — so you can actually see whether you're getting stronger.
Working a hard problem? Skip the clock entirely. Project Mode hands you a randomly selected climb with no round timer — just shuffle for a new one whenever you're ready, or bump the target grade up or down mid-session as you warm up or hunt for something harder. Already know the climb you want? Search the full catalogue by name and jump straight to it instead of shuffling. Set a rest timer if you want one, or skip it and keep climbing. Every attempt is still scored, so your projecting sessions show up in History and Stats right alongside the other game modes.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Boulder Blitz mobile app and its backend services (together, "Boulder Blitz", "the app", "we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Boulder Blitz. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
Boulder Blitz is built to work alongside a Tension Board or Kilter Board — it isn't a Tension Board, Kilter Board, or Aurora Climbing product. Tension Board, Kilter Board, and Aurora Climbing are trademarks of their respective owners; Boulder Blitz is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.
You create a Boulder Blitz account by signing in with Google — no Tension account is required to pick climbs or light up the board.
Linking an existing Tension account is optional, available from your profile, and lets Boulder Blitz obtain and refresh a session with Tension's own service on your behalf for features that depend on it (see our Privacy Policy for how those credentials are handled). If you choose to link a Tension account, it remains subject to Tension/Aurora's own terms of service — it's your responsibility to make sure your use of Boulder Blitz doesn't breach them. We aren't responsible for, and don't control, any action Tension/Aurora takes against your account.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Boulder Blitz on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use.
Session results you record (climbs attempted, sends, scores) are yours. See our Privacy Policy for how we store it and how to delete it.
Climbing is a physical activity with an inherent risk of injury. Boulder Blitz is a timer, climb-picker, and scoring tool — it doesn't supervise your climbing, assess your ability, or guarantee the safety of any climb or session it selects. You're solely responsible for your own safety, technique, and judgment, including deciding whether a climb or session is appropriate for you. Use crash pads, spotters, and proper safety equipment as you normally would.
Boulder Blitz is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the app, or the Tension/Aurora service it connects to, will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including personal injury while climbing, loss of session data, or interruption of the Tension/Aurora service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
You can stop using the app at any time, and delete your account as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms.
If we update these Terms, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Boulder Blitz ("the app") is a timer and scoring app for Tension Board and Kilter Board climbers. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how it's handled.
Account sign-in. Boulder Blitz uses Google Sign-In to create and authenticate your account. We receive a sign-in token from Google, verify it, and use the provider's own account identifier to create your account — we never see your Google password. Your email address is stored only for display within the app; it isn't used as your account identifier.
Tension account credentials (optional). Linking your existing Tension Board account is optional, from your profile, and isn't required to pick climbs from your board's catalogue or light them up over Bluetooth — those features work from your Google sign-in alone. If you choose to link a Tension account, your Tension username and password are sent once, over an encrypted connection, to our backend. They are encrypted at rest and used only to obtain and refresh a session with Tension's own service on your behalf — we don't use them for anything else, and we never see or store your Tension password in plain text.
Session data. When you complete a climbing session, the app saves it to your account so it shows up in your session history: board name and angle, round count and timing, and per-round results (which climb and its grade, how many attempts, points scored). This lets you review past sessions across devices.
Bluetooth data. The app connects directly to your Tension Board or Kilter Board over Bluetooth to read hold positions and set LED colors for the selected climb. This connection is local, phone-to-board — no Bluetooth or board-identifying data is sent to our servers.
What we don't collect. Boulder Blitz has no analytics SDK, no crash reporting, no advertising, and doesn't request access to your camera, contacts, location, or microphone. Duel Mode player names you enter for a head-to-head session stay on your device only — they are never sent to our servers.
Website feature requests. If you use the "Request a feature" form on this website, the name, email, and message you enter are relayed via Web3Forms, a third-party form service, solely to deliver that message to our inbox. This is separate from the Tension/session data described above and isn't linked to any app account.
We don't sell or share your data with third parties. Google is used solely to authenticate your sign-in, under their own privacy policies (Google). If you choose to link a Tension account, those credentials are used solely to communicate with Tension/Aurora's own service on your behalf.
Boulder Blitz is operated from the United Kingdom. Our backend and database run on Render, whose infrastructure for this app is physically located in the United States (Oregon). This means your linked-account and session data are processed and stored outside the UK/EEA. This policy, and UK GDPR, continue to govern how we handle your data regardless of where it's hosted.
If UK or EU data protection law (GDPR) applies to you, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, export a copy of it, object to or restrict certain processing, and delete it (see Data retention and deletion below). To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below — we'll respond within 30 days.
Data export. On request, we'll send you a copy of your linked-account details and full session history as a JSON file.
Your linked account, credentials, and session history are retained until you delete them.
In the app. Open the Profile tab and tap Delete my account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, any linked Tension account credentials, and your full session history from our servers — there's no waiting period, and it can't be undone.
Without the app. If you no longer have the app installed, email us at the address below requesting deletion and we'll confirm once it's done.
Boulder Blitz is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above.
This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
